
The accident occurred on February 4 near the signal opposite the Central Railway Workshop on Dr. B.A. Road. The child, Athang Tawde, was travelling home with his father, Mandar Tawde, when their scooter was allegedly struck from behind by a state-run Shivshahi bus that was being driven at high speed.
Due to the impact, the child was thrown off the scooter and sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at KEM Hospital and is undergoing treatment. His parents were also injured in the accident and are receiving medical care.
The bus driver, identified as Shamrao Nathrao Nagargoje, has been arrested. A case has been registered at Bhoiwada police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. The driver was later produced in court and granted bail.
