In a bizarre case of an unfortunate accident on Wednesday, 30 odd vehicles collided on the Sion-Panvel highway in Mumbai.

This caused a major traffic jam which broke after the intervention of the traffic police. However, no injuries have been reported even though the vehicles are said to be severely damaged.

The suburban railways which have been closed off to the normal public since the month of March have been ferrying essential workers only. As a result, the traffic has increased substantially on the roads of Mumbai. In addition, the work of Metro on that route has been intensified. The Sion-Panvel route moreover leads to Mumbai-Pune and further to Konkan which adds on to the traffic.

On Wednesday, September 30, while the trains were descending at a high speed on the Kalamboli flyover, work was underway to fill the potholes in the road in front. As a result, a speeding vehicle came to a halt at the spot when a driver suddenly braked to stop the speeding vehicle, causing a 30-vehicle collision to follow.

Even though no loss of life or injuries were reported, the accident caused a huge traffic jam in the area for some time. However, as per reports, the traffic police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
