Mumbai airport authorities are investigating a case of theft from a passenger's luggage. Amardeep Kapur Singh, a 58-year-old former government official, was travelling from Mumbai airport to Dubai with his son on March 21 when he discovered that AED 400 (INR 9000 approx.) was missing from his suitcase. Upon his return to Mumbai, Singh filed a complaint with the authorities.

Investigations have revealed that the luggage was retained in the screening device after Singh checked in at the airport. A loader later took it and unloaded it at the airport ground. It was then held within the aeroplane's luggage area by a feeder. All three - loader, feeder along with the screener - are under the scanner.

The worker screening the suitcase noticed bundles of notes inside while checking it. The accused then stole the money from the bag as it was being loaded. Authorities believe that someone who handles travellers' luggage is involved in the theft. Multiple airport employees are being interrogated, and the airport's CCTV footage is being checked to identify the culprit.

The case has been filed under IPC Section 379 (stealing). If found guilty, the accused could face severe consequences.

The probe is on in the matter and further information is awaited.
