A person was arrested by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) for attempting to travel with a staggering amount of Dirhams, the currency of the United Arab Emirates. The incident occurred at Terminal 2 in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 4, around 3 am.

During a routine security check, the CISF discovered the individual carrying Dirhams equivalent to over INR 3 crore in their hand luggage. The total amount of Dirhams found was AED 14,22,500. The X-ray scanner successfully detected the money. This prompted them to stop the person.

The individual was reportedly planning to travel to Dubai on an Emirates flight. Due to the lack of necessary documentation to justify carrying such a substantial amount of foreign currency, the CISF apprehended the person. They handed over the detainee to customs authorities for further investigation.

The incident has raised concerns about potential illegal activities involving money laundering or the smuggling of foreign currency. The detainee now faces a thorough investigation by customs authorities to ascertain the purpose behind carrying such a significant sum of Dirhams.
