Pavan Sharma, the owner of Radha Roadways, has been apprehended by the Wadala TT police in Mumbai for his alleged involvement in a major railway transport fraud. Sharma is facing charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust. He was entrusted with a subcontract worth INR 5 crore for the transportation of locomotives from Mumbai to Kalka.

The case came to light when Anilkumar Gulabchand Gupta, a complainant in the matter, accused Sharma of abandoning the locomotives. Gupta was hired by Shree JB Grains Dealer, a business connected to the railways. Gupta, in turn, hired another contractor named Sharma. He promised him a payment of INR 4.25 lakh upon the successful completion of the job.

However, instead of delivering the locomotives to Mumbai's Parel shed as agreed, Sharma transported them to Haryana. He did this without informing the Central Railway authorities. When Sharma was contacted regarding a delay in payment, he demanded an additional INR 60,000.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Central Railway had no knowledge of Sharma, as their contract was solely with Gupta and his business. It was later discovered that Gupta had employed Sharma as a subcontractor without informing the railway authorities. As a result, Central Railway intends to hold Gupta's business accountable for the harm caused to the engines and for failing to fulfil their contracted duties.

A team from the Wadala TT police has been dispatched to Haryana, where he is believed to be located. The investigation into the alleged fraud is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather all necessary evidence. Pavan Sharma has been charged under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code, based on the FIR filed against him.
