Mumbai- In two different raids, Customs Department has seized 4 Kg gold valued at Rs 1 crore 21 lakh from the International airport on Sunday.

Director of Revenue Intelligence got a tipoff, of gold being brought illegally from Dubai in Air India flight 948. Custom Department soon came into action which resulted in the recovery of 20 gold bars of 10 tolas each and one crude gold chain, totally weighing 2,362 grams valued at Rs. 71, 66,308/- (market value). This contraband was ingeniously concealed in a fabric belt and placed inside hollow pipe beneath one passenger seat.

Based on profiling, AIU officers followed and intercepted one lady passenger Ms. Fatmith Raseena Mohammed holding an Indian passport arriving from Dubai by Air India flight # AI 984. Her personal search resulted in the recovery of 14 gold bars of 10 tolas each weighing 1,632 grams valued at Rs. 49,51,488/- (market value). In this case the contraband was cleverly concealed beneath an upper body garment worn by her. The said passenger has been arrested.
