A body was found in an underground water tank near the public toilet of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mahatma Kabir Nagar, Bamanwada area of Vile Parle East. The dead body was found in the water tank next to the toilet. Police are investigating further in this matter.

The citizens had initially alleged that the toilet built by the municipality was of poor quality and the man fell into the tank because of its poor infrastructure. However, the toilet is in good condition and the body was found in the side water tank, so the mystery of the case has increased.

An unbearable stench suddenly started coming from the public toilet area on Monday. The cover of the underground water tank next to the toilet was slightly moved and a dead body was found in it. Therefore, the local residents complained to the police in this matter. Police recovered the body and further investigation is underway. A woman from the area had lodged a complaint about her husband missing at the Vile Parle police station on December 15. The person was found dead in a water tank. The police are investigating whether the person fell into the water tank or was murdered and the body dumped in the tank.

It was alleged by the social workers of the area that the citizen died due to poor construction of the toilet. However, the municipal administration clarified that this toilet is not in a bad state. This toilet was recently built by the civic body and given to a private organisation to run it. However, the municipality has also clarified that the organisation had stopped the maintenance work due to non-payment by the citizens of the area.
