The Special Judge for CBI cases, Mumbai has today sentenced the accused K.L. Meena, 47, the then Divisional Electrical Engineer (Power), Western Railway (WR), Mumbai  to 3 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of INR 30,000 in a bribery case.

The instant case was registered by CBI on April 15, 2015, on compliant against Shri K.L. Meena, Sr. DEE (Power), Western Railway, Mumbai on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of INR 3,00,000 for having awarded contracts to the complainant. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed on April 21, 2015, while accepting the bribe amount of INR 1,00,000 from the complainant.

After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on October 13, 2015, against the accused. Thereafter, charges were framed on September 29, 2016.

The Court found accused guilty after trial and accordingly sentenced him. CBI cited 12 witnesses in support of the charges which stood test of trial in the Court.
