With several citizens flouting the rules with regards to the pandemic, on Monday, March 29, Mumbai Police booked 155 people and arrested 92 others.

Meanwhile, in view of the rising instances of cases of coronavirus, eleven cases were registered against hotels and other establishments for violating COVID-19 protocols which includes maintaining social distancing and operating beyond the permissible time limit of 8:00 pm.

According to reports, the authorities have registered a total of 19 FIRs against 155 people for pandemic-related violations.

Moreover, the Mumbai Police had earlier collected a fine of INR 4 crores in one month from two lakh people in the city, who were found not wearing mask despite the surge in cases of coronavirus. Moreover, earlier more than 5,000 passengers who did not wear face masks have been caught by the railway authorities since last February. In addition, a fine of INR 8,36,900 was levied on these passengers. While it is mandatory to wear a face mask as a preventative measure while travelling, many ignore it.

On the other hand, earlier on March 25, the D-Mart store was sealed by the K East AMC Mr Prashant Sapkale. BMC Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, acting on these supermarkets being the super-spreaders of the coronavirus, passed an order to seal the store completely.

Moreover, the store is to be sealed till the end of the pandemic, as informed by the Central Government, according to the new guidelines issued by the Maharashtra Government amidst the second wave of COVID-19.

In the past, the Kalyan-Dombivali store of D-Mart was sealed where it was found that five employees who were found to be COVID-19 positive were still working in the store.
