A team of officials from the Mumbai Police, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, achieved a remarkable feat by busting a child trafficking racket and rescuing a four-month-old infant boy from Telangana, who was sold for INR 4 lakh.

As per reports, the information was received by the officers at the Juhu Police Station, on November 11, 2020. Additional Commissioner of Police, West, Sandeep Karnik, said that the complaint was about the infant, who belonged to a poor family and was missing from his home. Upon receiving the information, a team was formed immediately to investigate the matter. 

Senior Police Inspector Pandharinath Wahval led the same and used tech intel to crack the case, as this was the only solution available due to the absence of the witness. Footage from CCTV cameras was used to identify the child and the accused. After a thorough investigation and connecting the case from Maharashtra to Telengana, officials identified three accused, including a doctor, who was later arrested. Information about the child being sold was revealed, leading to the arrest of the accused from Mumbai’s Andheri and Telangana’s Bongir areas. The infant was handed over the family.

Sharing the information, Inspector Wahval told the PTI, “Main accused Dr Nasruddin Bshiruddin asked Mahesh Ditti and Ramesh Vyanpati to kidnap the child as a client of his was childless. The accused sold the child to the client for Rs 4 lakh. The three have been charged with kidnapping, trafficking and conspiracy.” 

Police refrained from sharing more information as per the protocol and the investigation is underway.
