Enraged with her parents for snatching away her phone, a 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace on Saturday. She hailed from Malwani and she ended her life by jumping off a seven-storey building near Malad Liberty Garden.

According to the police, the incident took place in the evening. She was depressed and had attempted to slit her wrist once when her parents and she had verbal exchange over the usage of mobile phone, said the police.

She was studying in class 9 and was often told by her parents to focus on studies and spend less time on mobile phone. On the day of the incident, the deceased and her parents got into a heated argument over the usage of mobile. The parents snatched the phone from her. Enraged with her parents, she left home and did not return. Her parents were under the impression that she was hiding somewhere and were waiting for her to return.

The police found an unidentified body on Saturday evening. The police could not identify the person as she had no phone or identification card. On Sunday, they circulated her image on police groups and, by evening, they managed to identify her and inform her parents, as told to the Free Press Journal.

The police have registered a case of accidental death and the body will be handed over to the family after the postmortem.
