On Saturday a shocking incident rocked the city as Noorie, a nine-year-old community dog living in a Galleria Mall in Hiranandani Powai was raped brutally. For those unaware, an 11-inch wooden object was inserted in her private parts and was left in a pool of blood to die.
On Sunday, the Powai police arrested a 36-year-old man who is said to be the main accused in this case. The accused has been identified as Sambhunath Pradhan and he hails from West Bengal, Apart from Pradhan, three others were detained for questioning by the police.
Pradhan was caught on CCTV camera inserting an 11-inch bamboo stick into the private parts of the dog. According to the police, Pradhan has confessed to his crime and also shared that he regrets harming the dog. Pradhan is employed as a sweeper at a sweet shop at the Galleria Mall in Powai.
Noorie on the other hand, continue to fight for her life. She was found by an animal lover who immediately admitted at the World For All facility in Andheri. She has already been operated once but her condition is now stable. She may be taken to the Parel based animal hospital for a medical check-up and treatment if required.
