On Sunday, November 22, Nawab Malik, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spoke about the recent arrests the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been making with regards to the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

The NCP leader stated that the people who consume drugs should be sent to rehab and not jail. He further questioned the NCB asking them why no action is being taken against the drug traffickers. Furthermore, he asked whether the NCB was trying to protect them by arresting drug addicts from the film industry.

Earlier in the day, the NCB arrested Haarsh Limbachiyaa after arresting comedian Bharti Singh for consuming marijuana. The development came after the popular TV couple admitted to the possession and consumption of marijuana, as the same was recovered from their residence on Saturday, November 21. Moreover, Singh and her husband were remanded to 14 days in judicial custody after they were arrested. In addition, three-drug peddlers were also arrested, of which two have been sent to five days of police custody. The TV industry couple has also applied for bail, and the hearing for the same will be held on Monday, November 23.

Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa had been produced before the Magistrate Court at Esplanade, Mumbai on Sunday, November 22.  After leaving the NCB office earlier in the day, their medical tests had been conducted. These developments come as the NCB investigates the drug case in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput as it continues to expand to the alleged drug abuse by Bollywood celebrities.
