What's the story?

At around 4:55 am on Thursday morning, a speeding OLA cab lost control, breaking the barricade and landed near the tetrapod on Lala Lajpatrai Marg near Haji Ali.

Aditya Tawde (23), along with two of his friends Pritesh Kandai (20) and Akash Vishvakarma (19) had booked the Wagon R cab at around 2:00 am.

Aditya is a Naigaon resident and was taking his friends from MP and Kolkata around the city. After touring South Mumbai, the three friends were headed to Mahim Dargah but later, the driver fell asleep while driving and in high speed, the car flung near the sea.

Passengers escape unhurt

The four luckily escaped with minor injuries.

Driver arrested

Abdul Rashid Shaikh, the 35-year-old OLA driver has been arrested.

According to the onlookers, the car came speeding at around 4:55 am on Lala Lajpatrai Marg, heading towards Mahim and lost control. A FIR has been registered under section 279, 337, 427 of the IPC and the driver was taken into custody by the Tardeo Police but was later bailed out.

Despite the awareness campaign to prevent road accidents by the Ministry of Transport and related departments, this case just shows how recklessness is far from being curbed.
