Mumbai live had already reported earlier about actor Piyush Sahdev being arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old model. Piyush was kept in police custody until 27 November and now there is an update that the court has rejected the actor’s bail plea and has issued 8 December as next hearing date.

As per reports in media, the 35-year-old actor has been sent to the Arthur road jail; it seems that other than his lawyer the actor is not allowed to meet his family and friends. Piyush allegedly was staying in a live-in relationship with the model who was also working as a creative for a popular TV show. Piyush had promised to help and shape her career in the industry.

Talking with Mumbai Live Senior Inspector Kiran Vasantrao Kale of Versova Police station mentioned, “The victim lodged a complaint on November 20. The actor has been arrested under IPC section 376, following rape charges.”

On Tuesday Piyush's wife, Akangsha gave her statement to Versova Police. Piyush was married to Akangsha Rawat for five years and had announced his separation earlier this year in the month of August.

Piyush Sahdev was last seen in Sony TV’s Beyhadh as Samay. His Beyhadh co-star Kushal Tandon recently spoke to Bombay times and averred, “This is a matter of somebody’s life. His career, reputation, family… everything is at stake. I feel this matter needs to be investigated thoroughly. There are so many laws now made for the protection of women and rightly so, but they should not be misused. From what I hear, Piyush was living in with this woman for the last two months. This is not some random person he suddenly met. Nobody knows what transpired between the two. All I can say is that in any such case, we should wait for the police to investigate and the courts to decide, rather than jumping to conclusions about a person’s character.”
