Second death in Powai sexual assault case
The Powai police are still not able to make any headway in the sexual assault case of two minor boys as the accused is still on run. The last ray of hope died with the death of the second 10-year-old boy who was admitted to KEM hospital and who had slipped into a coma. The boy breathed his last on Tuesday morning. Doctors had earlier said he would need a liver transplant. Both boys said they had consumed rat poison on 12 July. One boy died the next day.
Before slipping into coma, the boy told his father that he and his friend consumed rat poison by adding it to fruit juice as the poison tasted bitter. The Powai police have formed teams to search the accused name Zahid who is on run.
It was a usual day for all but for 'them' it was not. 10-year-old and his 11-year-old friend had started behaving in a weird way by isolating themselves from their family and friends. From July 6, they had stopped attending classes. Their parents received a call from the classes but their parents did not suspect any foul play.
However, the fateful day arrived when on 12 July, both the boys started vomiting blood at their respective residences. When they were asked by their parents, they informed that they had consumed rat poison. One boy was shifted to Sion and later to KEM hospital who is in a critical stage. While the other minor was taken to a family doctor and then he was shifted to Jogeshwari’s Trauma Care hospital. However, he lost his life on July 13.
