Dharavi- A pregnant woman ended her life by hanging herself on Sunday night at her residence. Sujata Antoni Bargar (28) is survived by two daughters.
According to her parents, Sujata's in-laws were pressurising her to abort the foetus and would abuse her mentally and physically every day.
Sujata had narrated her plight to her parents and her aunt. Her parents have registered a complaint against her husband at Shahu Nagar police station. Her relatives want the police to take action against her in-laws who instigated her to end her life. Her parents had kept her dead body at Sion hospital and performed the last rites after her husband was arrested. The body was later taken to the electric crematorium. Sujata's husband has been booked under section 498 and 306 of IPC. Police are further investigating the case.
