The committee formed to inquire into the malpractices in the medical examination and treatment at Sassoon Hospital in the Porsche car accident case in Pune submitted its report on Wednesday afternoon. According to this report, Dr. Vinayak Kale, the founder of Sassoon Hospital, has been sent on compulsory leave, while Dr. Ajay Taware, the head and professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine, and Dr. Srihari Halnor, the medical officer, have been suspended from the Department of Medical Education.
In the case of the Porsche car accident in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, it was revealed that the blood count of a minor child was altered. Therefore, a committee of Dr. Pallavi Saple, Dr. Gajanan Chavan and Dr. Sudhir Chaudhary, Special Task Officer of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Government Medical College, was formed to investigate the matter.
The committee submitted its report to the Medical Education Commissioner on Wednesday afternoon. In this report, action has been recommended against Sassoon Hospital's Forensic Medicine Department Head and Professor Dr. Ajay Taware and Medical Officer Dr. Srihari Halnore. Therefore, the Medical Education Department has taken disciplinary action against these two doctors and suspended them. Also, their subsistence allowance and supplementary allowances will be payable till the suspension. But during this period they cannot do private jobs or any kind of business. It has been clarified that if they do so, they will be considered as malpractice and ineligible for subsistence allowance.
Similarly, Dr. Vinayak Kale, the founder of BG Government Medical College and Sassoon Hospital ignored the matter as the head of the institution without considering the seriousness of the matter. Therefore, in the report submitted by the committee, it has been recommended to send them on compulsory leave immediately.
Accordingly, Kale has been sent on compulsory leave till further orders. The additional charge of Kale's post has been handed over to Dr. Chandrakant Mhaske, Principal, Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Government Medical College till further orders. The Medical Education Department has given instructions to the Commissioner of Medical Education and Research to process this order.
