Mumbai - Police investigation has revealed that son of a former corporator was responsible for the murder of RTI activist Bhupendra Vira. The father of the accused, Razzak Khan, has no role in this case, claimed the police after interrogating the accused, Amjad Khan, who has confessed to his crime. Vira (72) was shot dead at his Kalina residence on Sunday. Police had arrested former corporator Razzak Khan and his son Amjad two days ago. Police are investigating whether Amjad is trying to shield his father from the charges of murder. Vira’s wife was present in the house when he was murdered but had not heard the gunshot as the TV volume was high and the killer might have used a silencer on the pistol. Till the gun is not seized, no such confirmation can be given, said the police. It is to be noted here that deceased Vira had filed many RTI queries against Razzak Khan’s illegal construction which infuriated Amjad and led to Vira’s brutal killing.
