A team of Mumbai Crime Branch-9 arrested a scriptwriter for smuggling fake currency notes. The police seized fake currency notes worth ₹5,78,200 from the accused Devkumar Patel. 

The 37-year-old scriptwriter was arrested on Monday after the Crime Branch was informed about an unknown person who was going to visit SV Road in Jogeshwari to smuggle fake currency notes. The police had planned to catch the accused red-handed. After Police questioned Patel on site, the 37-year-old confessed to his crime.

The police are currently investigating the matter further. The investigative agencies have started a special campaign to stop the smuggling of fake currency notes and liquor ahead of the upcoming elections in the country.
