On Sunday night, Shiv Sena chief of Malad ward Sachin Sawant (46) was shot dead by two unidentified assailants. According to bystanders, they saw two men on a bike who fired at Sawant and fled.
For now, police have registered a case of murder against the unknown assailants and have started the investigation as well.
Sawant who belonged to Shiv Sena, was a chief of ward No. 39, Appapada, Malad. It is believed that, on the fateful night, Sawant was on a bike with his friend when few unidentified people shot four rounds from a gun. Injured Sawant was then admitted to Shatabdi Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
This is not the first time when a SS corporator has been murdered. SS corporator Ashok Sawant was shot dead as well.
