UPDATE: The horse on which the girl was riding collapsed, along with which the girl fell down and suffered grave injuries and died. This incident occurred after the horse twisted his leg. 


A tragic incident came to light on Sunday evening when a six-year-old girl fell from a horse at Cooperage Ghoda Garden and suffered irreparable damage.

The little girl recognised as Janhavi Sharma studied in kindergarten. According to reports in TOI, Colaba police has registered a case against the horse rider, Soham Jaiswal (30), and arrested him.

The incident occurred at around 4:15 pm when the victim was with her parents spending quality time on a Sunday but to the family’s dismay, the girl is now brain dead.

Deputy commissioner of police (zone I) Manojkumar Sharma told TOI: "The horse rider has been booked and arrested. A further probe is on. Horse carriages and rides at Nariman Point and Marine Drive were banned but near Cooperage garden, the rides have been going on for 25-30 years. We have arrested the driver."

The victim’s father, Mahendra Sharma is a CEO of a private firm.

Horse rides have been popular in SoBo areas and especially on a Sunday, families come together for their children to enjoy the rides.

Civic officials have although stopped issuing licenses a couple of years ago.
