A few days back, stand-up comedian Agrima Joshua was trolled on social media for making offensive remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The stand-up act was performed last year by the comedian and went viral during the lockdown. While some people believed that the joke was in no way intended towards Maharashtra's legendary ruler, others started giving her death and rape threats over the controversy.

Following the outrage on women's safety on social media, Mumbai police took timely action against the intimidators. However, this incident was repeated again recently. As per recent reports, the cybercrime cell of Mumbai Police has now arrested two more men, who allegedly abused and issued death and rape threats to Joshua via a video.

Identified as Ashraf Sheikh and Virat Sharma, both the men are residents of Virar area, who have failed Class 10 and drive rickshaws to earn a living. They are reportedly friends with Umesh Dada, who had also been arrested by Mumbai police for issuing rape threats to the comedian via an offensive video.

Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Param Bir Singh, took to Twitter to announce the arrest of the intimidators.

It has been speculated that abusive content creators were influenced by Hindustani Bhau, who is notoriously famous for making abusive and threatening videos online. The first arrest regarding this spree of abusive videos was made by the Vadodara police when they arrested a YouTuber named Shubham Mishra for making a similar video.

Mumbai police had been trying to track down Sheikh and Sharma for the last 15 days and they were finally arrested on Thursday night. After getting arrested, the duo made a video and apologized for their actions.
