In a shocking incident that happened at the Bhaskar Complex store near Virar (West) station, a woman in her early 20s attacked a 27-year-old store employee with a sickle on Saturday night, July 15. The entire incident was captured on the store's CCTV cameras.
The victim has been identified as Prachi Patil. The assault took place when the victim was alone and sitting on a chair in the grocery store. The suspect entered the store and approached Patil. She was carrying the sickle in her luggage.
Without any warning or provocation, the suspect suddenly retrieved the sickle from her bag and began ruthlessly hitting Patil. The victim was taken aback and defenceless against the attack.
Fortunately, three men entered the store just in time. They noticed the assault and immediately intervened to protect the victim. They managed to overpower the suspect and stop the attack.
The men also arranged for Patil to be rushed to the nearby Sanjeevani Hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the suspect was held by the intervening men and handed over to the Virar police. The police have taken charge of the case.
