In a shocking incident that came to light on Thursday, January 14, where a ticket checker on the western railway line was assaulted by two passengers after they were caught traveling on expired Monthly Season Ticket (MST) pass in an intercity train of Western Railway (WR).

The victim Arjun Singh, who was on duty at the Flying Queen Express at the time, asked the two for tickets and they showed him the expired MST pass. As a result, an argument ensued between them. Later, both the commuters attacked the ticket checker at Kelve Road station around 8:30 am.

According to reports, the accused Chinmay Bari (27) and Dhirendra Patil (21) who were holding invalid expired MST passes had boarded the train from Dahanu Road.

Soon after the incident, Arjun Singh lodged a complaint with the railway police. A first information report (FIR) has been registered against the duo assaulting a public servant on duty. The police arrested the two passengers at Borivali railway station. Both the accused were taken to Palghar Lohmarg police station. A criminal case has been registered against them.

Palghar police is investigating the matter further, said officials. Chinmay Jagannath Bari and Dhirendra Ishwar Patil are working in a Raheja hospital in Bandra as per the ID found with them, reports suggested. The authenticity of Id Card is also under investigation.
