A 37-year-old man has been arrested under section 436 of the IPC in connection with a fire at the Thane Electricity Department office.

According to sources, a 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire at the Thane Electricity Department office. The fire broke out at the office of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) in Wagle Estate area. However, there were no casualties reported.

An official of Wagle Estate Police Station informed that the name of the accused is Laxman Rakhunde. He collected garbage near MSEDCL office and burnt it. Later, he threw the burning garbage into the office premises which burned furniture and important documents in the office.

During the investigation, it was reportedly found that Rakhunde had tried to rob the office near the MSEDCL centre at midnight. However, he was caught by a guard at the power company's office due to which he got angry and decided to take revenge by setting fire to the office. However, his actions were captured on CCTV. Meanwhile, the Police have arrested him under section 436 of the Indian Penal Code.

On the other hand, the Mumbai Police had earlier arrested two people in connection with the murder of a 33-year-old man in Mumbai. The Police further reported that the man was murdered by a group of nine people in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai on February 9. Moreover, the authorities have registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
