The arrested businessman has been identified as Manish Khemchand Mulchandani (36), a resident of Surat in Gujarat. As per reports, he had come to Mumbai for some work and wanted to visit a popular hotel located in Marine Drive.

Coronavirus cases in the city have been increasing steadily and the government is trying to take necessary steps to curb the spread. Keeping this in mind, the government officials have asked the citizens to follow the regulations and wear masks at all times in the public. Besides this, the government has implemented several campaigns like 'No mask, No entry' to create awareness among the citizens.

However, despite such efforts, several unruly citizens have still been violating the rules, and over the last few weeks, failure to wear a mask has often led to clashes between citizens and officials. 

In a recently reported incident, a trader from Gujarat failed to wear a mask while his visit to the Marine Drive area. On being questioned, he not only behaved in an unacceptable manner but also pushed the police and got into a fight. With an aim to address the same, the officials present there had to arrest him under various sections.

The arrested businessman has been identified as Manish Khemchand Mulchandani (36), a resident of Surat in Gujarat. As per reports, he had come to Mumbai for some work and wanted to visit a popular hotel located in Marine Drive. During his visit, he did not wear a mask, and due to the safety reasons, the hotel staff denied him entry. Agitated with this behaviour, Mulchandani started threatening them, post which, the staff had to call the police who rushed to the spot.

Upon being questioned, the accused also started threatening the police and got into an ugly spat. Following this behaviour, Mulchandani was arrested by the police and a case has been registered against him under Sections 353, 188, 269, 183, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 51 of the National Disaster Relief Act 2005 on the complaint received by police constable Sanjay Pawar.
