In recent developments, a team of encounter specialists spearheaded by Daya Nayak has arrested a man who had threatened to blow up Matoshree, the residence of CM Uddhav Thackeray.
Earlier, an unidentified man had called up Thackeray's personal residence in Bandra, stating that he was calling from Dubai on behalf of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. He was later arrested by the Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) along with the Kolkata Police. The accused was allegedly a 49-year-old man from Kolkata who threatened several politicians in Maharashtra. He had also called on the numbers of Sharad Pawar and Anil Deshmukh, stating that he belongs to the underworld.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) which had earlier gathered on the eve of the two-day monsoon session of the State legislature, expressed concern over the threat call and sought Centre’s intervention in the matter.
The threat to blow up Matoshree was received on August 30. The unidentified number happened to belong to an alleged assailant in Dubai. Taking the incident seriously, the police had earlier stepped up the security outside Thackeray’s residence. Finally, the anti-terrorism squad traced the number and arrested the accused from Rajasthan. However, the police have not given any official information about this as of now.
