Mumbai - Mumbai Police granted licenses to the owners of three city dance bars. The dance bars which are ready to rock and roll includes Indian (Tardeo), Aero Punjab (Andheri) and Sai Prasad (Andheri). Resumption of dance bars was carried out on the orders of Supreme Court. The state government had in 2005 banned dance bar in Maharashtra.
Provisional licenses given to the bars had lapsed last August as they could not fill norms under new dance bar rule. In November, the Supreme Court stated that the state should consider granting dance bar licenses under rules set in 2014, and not under the 2016 law [Maharashtra Prohibition of Obscene Dance in Hotels, Restaurants and Bar Rooms and Protection of Dignity of Women Act].
