Currently, a video is going viral where security guards associated with Maharashtra State Angling Association are seen getting beaten up by seven unidentified people for not permitting fishing in Powai lake. On the basis of the video, Powai police have registered a case against the accused under section 324, 506, 143, 147 and 149 of IPC.

Victim Devprakash Ramsevak Yadav (35) – who is associated with Maharashtra State Angling Association  – has been appointed to look after the Powai lake. Usually, fish which are imported from Kolkatta are released in Powai lake which has a huge demand in the market.

On Thursday, another security guard Bharat Gupta informed Yadav about the fishing net spread out on the Powai lake. Likewise, Yadav reached the spot and seized six fishing nets.

People who had laid the nets threatened Yadav and on Friday night, around 12:30 am, six to seven people barged into the club and started beating Gupta. Seeing Gupta getting beaten up, Yadav came to his rescue but was thrashed as well. 

Powai police have filed a case against unknown assailants and with the help of CCTV footage are trying to nab the attackers.
