It is illegal to sell tobacco, cigarettes, gutkha and tobacco based products within 100 meters radius of educational institutions. Still, tobacco is sold openly near educational institutions. Social service branch of Mumbai police and 'Japu' (Juvenile aid Police unit) have conducted raids on M.R.A road, Azad maidan, Worli, N.M.Joshi Marg, Gamdevi, Paidhooni, Tardeo, J.J. road, Byculla areas. Those raids have resulted in action against 64 establishments selling tobacco or its byproducts within 100-meter radius of schools and educational institutions under IPC section 2003-6-(B)-24.
