The Wadala GRP personnel arrested two chain snatchers who were trying to snatch chain and mobile from a passenger at Cottongreen railway station on Tuesday. Shahrukh Tahir Khan (20) and Noor Islam Jahangir Shaikh alias Batla (17) are the names of the arrested accused.

As per information, Darshan Dayaram Jadhav, a resident of Chunabhatti Colony in Uran Karanja, was waiting for a local train at Cottongreen railway station on Harbour line at around 4:30 am on Tuesday. Jadhav, tired of awaiting the train, fell asleep on the block on platform no. 2. Taking benefit of this, two unidentified thieves snatched two gold chains worth Rs 75,000 and a mobile handset worth Rs 13,000 from him and fled from the spot.

Jadhav registered a complaint with Wadala GRP police station. After scrutinising the CCTV footages, police launched a search for the accused and formed a special team. Police constable Sudhir Chaudhari, Guru Jadhav and Amit Bankar received a tip-off about the chain-snatchers. Following this, the police arrested the accused by laying a trap at Mahim railway station. Both the accused have accepted their crime and police have seized the stolen booty from them, informed senior police inspector I.B. Sarode.
