A serious incident of sexual assault of an inmate has taken place in Arthur Road Jail, one of the most sensitive jails in the country. This has been done by two prisoners booked under the Narcotics Control Act. Apart from this, it is also stated in the complaint that the accused beat up the complainant. A case has been registered at Joshi Marg police station.


The accused have been identified as Sameer Shabbir Sheikh alias Pudi (23) and Rashid Hasan Faraj (36). Both were arrested under the Narcotics Control Act. After being remanded in judicial custody in this case, both the accused were kept in Arthur Road Jail as bail. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted a 23-year-old prisoner in the bathroom. After that, the accused abused the prisoner in the barrack, and the accused Pudi also beat him. In this case, the prisoner made a complaint to N M Joshi Marg police.

According to the complaint, this incident took place on June 7. Sources also said that on June 9, the accused beat up the complainant. The police have registered a case under IPC Sections 377 (unnatural cruelty), 504 (breach of peace), 506 (intimidation), 323 (assault), 34 (act with common intention). As both the accused are currently in judicial custody, legal action will be taken and they will be arrested in this case, sources said.
