Women don burqa to smuggle in gold, held by customs

Mumbai – Mumbai airport customs has arrested two women and seized valuables including gold ornaments worth Rs 16.16 lakh from them. Accused Shivangi Patodiya and Shivani Raj, residents of Mira Road, had arrived from Bahrain by a Gulf Air flight on Tuesday night. During checking, Customs officials found the burqa-clad Patodiya carrying gold ornaments weighing 423 grams. A total of 520 grams of gold, valued at Rs 14.39 lakh was recovered from both women. The women were also carrying Samsung and I-phone handsets valued at Rs 1.77 lakh.
