Attention book lovers! 'Book Street' happening on Sunday in Dombivali; 1 lakh books will be displayed on streets

With an aim of introducing new and old books and to promote the reading culture, Dombivali’s oldest and popular library, Pai’s Library has organised an event titled ‘Books Street’ which will take place on Phadke Street in Dombivli East on Sunday. Readers will have the opportunity to see books and take one book home for free. The event will take place from 5:00 am to 10:00 am on Sunday


About one lakh books will be displayed on the foot long road from Modern Cafe Hotel on Phadke Road to Appa Datar Chowk. Pundalik Pai, organiser and director of Pai Friends Library, said that books in English, Marathi language like multilingual, stories, novel, historical, science, translated, children's books will be on display.


This has been planned with the idea that more than 5000 reading-loving citizens of different ages will participate in this activity. Such book streets are famous in foreign countries where avid  readers across the country visit. Also in foreign countries, one day is reserved for books where avid readers flock the street to buy books. Pai said that this activity has been organised to give the same experience to the readers in Dombivli.


200 volunteers from various organisations in Dombivli will participate in this activity for book layout and planning. Pai expressed that book loving citizens of Dombivli, Thane, Kalyan area will participate in this activity.
