World’s most iconic and fancy-sounding decades old multi-genre travelling music festival Lollapalooza is now coming to Mumbai.

For the unversed, Lollapalooza is a four-day music festival which takes place annually at Grant Park in Chicago.

This prominent festival is all set to make its Asia debut in January next year, 2023. While, in Chicago, festival is held from July 28-31, in Mumbai it will be held on January 28-29.

India is the eighth country to take this international legacy forward.

BookMyShow has partnered with Lollapalooza’s global producers for the festival’s Indian edition.

The festival’s Mumbai venue is yet to be undisclosed but is expected to feature four stages with over 20 hours of live music. It will be open to over 60,000 fans each day. Early Bird tickets for pre-registered users go live on August 1, 2022, and are priced at ₹7,000 and upwards.

What is Lollapalooza?

It began in Chicago in 1991 as the “farewell tour” of the 1980s alt-rock band, Jane’s Addiction. The festival was started by Perry Farrell.

The festival, which nearly threatened with permanent closure in 1998, was given fresh life by Farrell in 2005 as a destination festival in Chicago.

Seven countries across the globe -- United States, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and Sweden – continue to host the festival.
