Why Flora said no more Gandii Baat In Bollywood it is easy to get typecast with the kind of roles that one gets and very few actors try to break those stereotypes and take the risk of trying something new. Flora Saini is one such actress. She shot to fame instantly with her role in the webseries, Gandi Baat. What followed suits was a similar type of roles and yes sequels to the same.
Flora, however, made a conscious choice to move over and beyond such roles. Talking to Mumbai Live, she said “I am extremely proud of the roles that I have done and I know there are a few people who believe that portraying roles such as the one that I did in Gandi Baat as easy and term everything under this bracket of “bold”. However, I have consciously chosen roles that have a more to offer as an actress and I will continue to do so. Having said that, I want to explore more facets of me as an actress and I am happy that I am getting so many more opportunities to do so now.”
In an industry where people are usually hesitant to say no, did Flora have any apprehensions saying no to work that was coming your way. “It was brave choice to do the kind of roles that I was doing and braver to say no. It is flattering to see your work being appreciated and the reason people are coming to you with the same kind of work is another testimonial of your hard work is appreciated. When people are approaching you to do the same kind of work that means that your performance has been accepted. So while I am grateful for all that is coming my way, as an actor I wanted to explore more diverse kinds of roles and not stick to one and so I made this conscious decision to look for different kinds of role and not stick to just one ”.
Overall Flora is happy and grateful for how 2019 has shaped so far for her. Her character in City of Dreams raised a lot of eyebrows and one is still zapped on the true facets of her character in the web series. For those unaware, City of Dreams was a web series on Hotstar, which also stars Priya Bapat and Eijaz Khan. It was directed by ace director Nagesh Kukunoor.
Just as the year is coming to close, we got to see Flora in another never seen before avatar in Inside Edge 2. The cricket-based series has been in the news for a spectacular season 1 and even the second season has become the talk of the town. The show has been produced by Excel Entertainment and also stars, Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Tanuj Virwani, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Angad Bedi, Aamir Bashir and Sapna Pabbi. Flora’s role in the same too has managed to grab the attention of the audience. Not just this, she has an interesting line up for 2020 and would be starting work on two web series.
