As per reports, the school education department is to announce the third merit list for the first-year junior college (FYJC) students on December 15.

During the second round of admissions, 28,061 students secured admission whereas 48,000 students from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) failed to secure admission even after getting colleges. In the second merit list, which was announced on December 5, 76,231 students were allotted a seat. Of these, 13,094 students were allotted a college which was listed as their first preference. Even though it is mandatory for students to confirm their seats, only 12,312 students did so.

As a result, these students will now have to wait for the special round if they still want to take admission in the FYJC. However, as per reports, even though some colleges have few seats for the third merit list, students can expect an increased merit pool in the special merit list.

Meanwhile, the FYJC is all geared up to resume classes within the next week with admissions to 75 per cent of the seats in the reputed colleges getting completed.

Moreover, according to sources, the classes are to be conducted online. Earlier, the online admissions regarding the same resumed on November 26. In addition, students who had applied under the Maratha quota could change category. All students could change college preferences up to December 1, 2020. On the other hand, the second merit list was made available on December 5, at 11 am. The admissions for which continued up to December 9, 2020.
