Recently, Mumbai University (MU) had declared that the PhD and MPhil Entrance Test (PET) examinations will be conducted through an online pattern on December 16. However, on the same day, the National Eligibility Test (NET) entrance examinations will be held due to which the students of Science stream are in a fix. Because of this issue, once again the university’s mismanaged timetable abilities have come to notice and once again, the students have been affected.

In order to earn eligibility to conduct research, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) students are required to appear for NET examinations. CSIR offers opportunities for research in science streams such as mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, geology and marine science where all the students are required to appear for NET exams. The post-graduate students are eligible for the examination and about 7,000 students are expected to appear for the examination at two centers, in Pune and Nagpur.

As several students desire for admission in these institutions, they are unsure to secure admissions in the institutions due to a large number of science students applying for the exams. Therefore, these students appear for the PET examinations but since the examinations are being conducted on the same day, the students have been in a dilemma. Therefore, they have demanded that the examinations should be postponed.

However, this hasn’t been the first time that the educational institution has put the students in trouble due to a faulty timetable. Earlier, the university had arranged the S.Y.BCom examinations on the same day as the C.A. examinations.
