The Union Education Ministry has removed the eligibility criteria of receiving 75 per cent marks in 12th standard for the JEE Main examinations for the academic year 2021-2022.

In the past, only students who scored a minimum 75 per cent marks in the Class 12 board exams or in their qualifying examinations were eligible for admission to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning courses in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank informed the same further adding that the decision has been taken keeping in view the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Moreover, as announced by the Union Education Minister last month, the JEE Mains examination will be conducted four times a year from 2021. The examinations will be held in February, March, April and May. In addition, the first session of the JEE Mains examination will be held from February 23 to February 26. Moreover, students are to be admitted to major educational institutions like NIT, IIT, SPA and CFIT only on the basis of JEE Mains examination results.

The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) is a national level entrance exam held for admission to 31 National Institute of Technology (NITs), 25 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), and 28 Government Funded Technical Institutes.

Currently, the application to JEE Main 2021 is underway and candidates can apply online through the JEE Main login window at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
