On Tuesday, December 22, during a live address, Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal informed that the CBSE board examinations 2021 will not be conducted in the months of January and February amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus.

However, he ensured that the Class 10 and 12 board examinations are not cancelled but a schedule will be decided after February 2021. While holding a live discussion, interacting with the teachers regarding the upcoming board examinations, the Education Minister also informed that the examinations will be conducted offline.
On the other hand, as per reports, CBSE practicals will be held for students of Class 12 who have been able to attend practical classes. However, since several students have complained that their schools have not been able to hold a single practical class physically, the board has announced that it is exploring alternate modes for marking practicals. However, it has clarified reports claiming that the practicals will be held in January and February, stating that the reports are false.
Pokhriyal had earlier on December 11 informed that if schools continue to remain closed, there will be an alternative mode of assessment instead of the CBSE class 10 and 12 practical board exams. He further added that there is no mandate that the exams will be held in the month of March and a postponement and further delay can be considered based on the situation.
However, the Union Minister asserted that the JEE Main 2021 will take place in February, March, April and May for students to have multiple attempts and a 'wide-area' for preparation and rectifying the mistakes without the loss of a whole year. He further added that in 2021, the joint engineering exams will take place from February 23 to February 26.
