In a live session on Thursday, December 31, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced that the upcoming CBSE examinations in India will be held between May 4 and June 10, 2021.

Moreover, Pokhriyal asked the students to check the official CBSE website cbse.nic.in for final 2021 date sheets for both theoretical and practical board examinations. On the other hand, he stated that the results for the same will be declared by July 15, 2021. Speaking about the mode of examination, the Union Minister informed, "Many CBSE schools are in rural areas. Hence, online examinations are not possible."

Meanwhile, the CBSE practicals will be held for students of Class 12 who have been able to attend practical classes. However, since several students have complained that their schools have not been able to hold a single practical class physically, the board had earlier announced that it is exploring alternate modes for marking practicals. However, it has clarified reports claiming that the practicals will be held in January and February, stating that the reports are false.

Pokhriyal earlier on December 11 informed that if schools continue to remain closed, there will be an alternative mode of assessment instead of the CBSE class 10 and 12 practical board exams. He further added that there is no mandate that the exams will be held in the month of March and a postponement and further delay can be considered based on the situation.

As many as 30 lakh students appear for the CBSE board exams every year. The practical exams and the internals are usually conducted in the months of January and the theory papers from February 15. However, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the examinations have been delayed this year.
