Marine Lines – The members of Chhatra Bharati organisation staged a silent protest at Marine Lines to condemn the hooliganism of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad which is students wing of the ruling BJP. The protest was in connection with the Gurmehar Kaur issue which has created ripples in the political circle in the country’s capital.

Demanding arrest of those who threatened Gurmehar Kaur of rape, Chhatra Bharati members also asked the government to control such anti-social elements. They also appealed people to stand behind Gurmehar Kaur and support her.

Chhatra Bharati supports the freedom of speech given to each and every citizen of this democratic country, said Sagar Bhalerao, state vice-president.

The unnecessary issues are being created to divert the attention of people from serious problems of unemployment, inflation, casteism etc, he further alleged.

Meanwhile, police detained the agitators protesting silently and later released them. Mumbai president Sachin Bansode, Lokesh Late, Rohit Dhale, Ketki Mahajan, Ankita Kakde, Anita Ide, Bhagwan Boyal and other members of Chhatra Bharati participated in the protest.
