With the ATKT or the backlog examinations starting this Friday, several colleges have rushed to conduct online mock examinations this week.

However, students complained of multiple technical glitches whereas some complained about the inconvenience in attempting the test in the online format in a short notice.

The state government along with the Mumbai University had earlier made it mandatory for the colleges to conduct mock tests in order to familiarize students with the format of online examinations. The ATKT (allowed to keep term) examinations is a process in the Indian education system to permit students of pre-graduation and graduation to study in the next grade if they have failed in 1 to 4 subjects after they clear the backlog.

On the other hand, the final-year examinations which are to be held at home and was approved by the Governor, in view of the coronavirus outbreak. The decision was released keeping the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines in mind, however, over the last few months, the state government has been trying hard to cancel examinations, to ensure safety for students amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Moreover, the vice-chancellors of the universities have been asked to conduct the examinations using Multiple Choice Questions and Optical Mark Recognition, and to hold offline examinations only with regards to special cases.
