Coronavirus Pandemic: CBSE releases helpline numbers for students' assistance

Due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, the state government has taken various measures and it was decided that the schools and colleges will be closed for safety purposes. Further, examinations of Class 1-8 were cancelled, and for classes 9 and 11, they will be conducted after April 15, 2020.

In a recently made announcement, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a list of new helpline numbers with an aim to raise awareness about Coronavirus among the student community. These numbers have been divided based on two time zones and will be available between 10.00 am to 5:00 pm. By contacting these numbers, students can find out information about ways to protect themselves and others from the coronavirus.

Addressing the same, Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE board, said, "In view of the safety of all employees of the board, it has become imperative to encourage safe practices of maintaining social distancing. However, we at the board feel that this initiative, however small, must continue uninterrupted."

The CBSE Psychological helpline will continue to provide assistance throughout via IVRS at the toll-free number 1800-11-8004. Further, students who are currently home will be able to get more information online and students' mental counselling shall continue.
