On Monday, March 14, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad stated that the Chemistry question paper for the grade 12 HSC board examination was not leaked, as reported in certain accounts earlier.

Gaikwad took to Twitter saying, “Saturday, March 12. The twelfth-grade chemistry question paper is not broken. The paper is torn, false propaganda is being spread through some social media. There is no fact in it. In this case, the statement I made in the Legislative Council today.”

Her statement is in stark contrast to the media reports that remarked how a coaching centre owner had leaked the paper. Earlier in the day, the Mumbai Police reportedly arrested a coaching centre’s owner who allegedly leaked the grade 12 Chemistry examination paper.

Several media narratives claimed that the paper was leaked just hours ahead of the examination and went viral on social media platforms.

News agency ANI earlier on Monday quoted the Mumbai Police and elaborated on how a tuition teacher, named Mukesh Singh Yadav was arrested by the Vile Parle Police in connection with a grade 12 Chemistry Question Paper leak.

The narrative added on how the investigation brought to light that the accused operated a private coaching class in Malad and leaked the question paper on WhatsApp prior to the examination.
