State government reduces the cut-off score for admissions in Engineering and Pharmacology courses

Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant, announced that the eligibility score for students from HSC (Class 12) for these two courses, has been reduced by 5 per cent, and this move will benefit many students across the state.

Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant, on Monday, October 12, 2020, said that the cut-off marks required for a student to get admission in Engineering and Pharmacology courses have been reduced and the admission process has been relaxed, whereby students will benefit from the revised marks. This decision was welcomed by the students as many have faced difficulty in studying due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Officials have stated that the changes in the eligibility criteria for engineering and pharmacology courses will help streamline the admission process. Furthermore, the eligibility score for students from HSC (Class 12) has been reduced by 5 per cent, and this will benefit many students in the state.

Sharing more information, he added that in order to get admission in Engineering and Pharmacology course, one had to get at least 50 per cent marks in science, i.e. subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics and/or biology. Besides this, they had to also pass the CET exams, as per protocol. However, as per the new revision, one will be eligible with 45 per cent, if they belong to the open category, and 40 per cent marks if they are from any of the reserved groups.

With these amendments, students will be able to get admission, if they score at least one mark in the CET exam and 40-45 per cent marks in their exams.
