On December 5, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) informed that it has decided to extend the dates for admission to engineering courses to December 31.

This comes after several requests from state governments across the country. Moreover, in a revised circular, the council stated that the dates have been extended only where counselling and admissions had not started due to delayed CET.

On the other hand, earlier on Wednesday, December 2, the Bombay University and College Teachers’ Union (BUCTU) requested the vice-chancellor of Mumbai University (MU) to postpone the first-year degree college exams.

As per reports, the degree college teachers have suggested that the first-year examinations be postponed to end of January 2021, adding that that the university release an official circular as soon as possible. This comes in less than two weeks after the organisation, in their previous letter, claimed that several colleges have not managed to teach the mandatory 90 days before the examinations a result of the delay in admissions to first-year courses which makes it impossible to hold the examinations in the month of December.

Meanwhile, on November 12, Mumbai University announced the results of close to 9,000 MCom students as well as final-year BA and BCom students of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL).

As per reports, close to 9,000 students appeared for the final-year MCom examinations from the university and its affiliated colleges out of which 95 per cent have passed. With regards to IDOL, 87 per cent of the 6,000 TYBCom students passed and the success rate of TYBA students was over 90 per cent.
