On Thursday, November 12, Mumbai University announced the results of close to 9,000 MCom students as well as final-year BA and BCom students of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL).

As per reports, close to 9,000 students appeared for the final-year MCom examinations from the university and its affiliated colleges out of which 95 per cent have passed. With regards to IDOL, 87 per cent of the 6,000 TYBCom students passed and the success rate of TYBA students was over 90 per cent. However, the MA results are yet to come out.

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning had earlier postponed their examinations after a “cyber-attack” on the exam server. In the past, the papers were to be held on October 6 and 7. However, IDOL postponed the final-year examinations for the arts, commerce and science streams.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) Distance Education Bureau (DEB) had earlier in its letter dated October 12, 2020, approved the University of Mumbai (MU) Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) for the academic year 2020-21. Accordingly, MU IDOL had started admissions for the first-year courses. In the past, all the courses in IDOL would happen on an annual basis, however, the UGC has now directed that the courses should be run on a session basis.
