Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday directed that a structure of vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in non-agricultural universities, non-government and engineering colleges in the state should be prepared and filled. 

Therefore, the implementation of the new education policy will help improve the quality of higher education. Fadnavis had organised a review meeting on various topics of the Higher and Technical Education Department. At this time, the pending demands of the universities were discussed. 

The number of technological universities in the state is low, and it is necessary to keep these universities running at full capacity. This will provide more opportunities to students and improve quality. 

Fadnavis directed that 105 teaching posts and one teacher equivalent post should be approved at Lakshminarayan Innovative Technological University. Like other universities, the University of Technology was approved to provide INR 8 crore to meet daily and administrative expenses. It was also approved to fill 788 teaching posts and 2242 non-teaching posts. Approval has been given for the recruitment of 5012 vacant posts of Assistant Professor in non-government aided colleges under the Directorate of Higher Education.

Also, 100 percent recruitment was approved in other government-aided institutions in the state, including VJTI and Shri Gurugovind Singh Engineering College, Nanded. A revised structure of a total of 603 posts was also approved for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University of Technology.

Fadnavis has approved the proposal to increase the library grant by 40 percent and instructed that this proposal should be sent to the Finance Department immediately. Fadnavis also instructed that after inspecting the libraries in categories 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D', their upgradation has been approved in principle, and that a proposal for the increased grant required for this should be submitted to the Finance Department.

At the same time, Fadnavis directed that a proposal be submitted for government approval of new libraries to the extent that the approval of 1,706 libraries in the state has been cancelled. It also approved the approval of special incentive grants to public libraries in the state that have completed 50,75,100 years.


A Department of Science and Technology should be established

Fadnavis said that the Department of Science and Technology is functioning in many states, and Fadnavis suggested that an outline be prepared on how this department can be started in Maharashtra by studying the functioning of other states.
